CALLS FOR PROJECTS FOR "CITIZEN PARTICIPATION"
Until 1 July at midnight
Guidelines for the call: participar.de/es/Convocatoria
This
call aims to create a participatory platform about visual arts. The
platform functions as a set of interrelated actions that work as an
integrated device: open call, web tool, professional meeting, and public
presentation of projects. These formats seek to generate a network of
knowledge exchange and to strengthen the cultural dialogue between Spain
and Germany. The citizens of both countries are asked to reflect
collectively on the subject of "Citizen Participation" which invites
them to present artistic creation proposals. Since the financial crisis
reached social environments in 2010, more citizens of all ages are
increasingly reclaiming their voice in society through protest
movements, citizen initiatives, and so on. In Spain, the 15 M movement
arose in a particularly tough context due to the high rate of
unemployment among youth and the increasingly poor economic perspectives
for many levels of society. In Germany, there are permanent arguments
about the transformation and reduction of the educational system within
the framework of the Bologna process, while protests are increasing
against large infrastructure projects such as Stuttgart 21 or expansion
of the Frankfurt and Munich airports, since people feel they have a
negative impact on their everyday lives. In both Spain and Germany,
citizens do not feel represented and regret not being able to take an
active part in processes that affect them.
