Encuentros con la alteridad geográfica (Encounters with geographic alterity)
Wednesday 16 July 2008, 18.30 p.m.

Broadcast via streaming: alterpolis.intermediae.es

The representation of Utopian space has been a task humans have paid special attention to over time. Whether envisioned as islands, cities or societies, a Utopian approach has served to represent our relationship with ourselves and others. This talk will address these matters from diverse perspectives including geographic thought, and the history of cartography and of literature.

Alter Polis brings together eight teams of architects to work on a Utopian city from a humanist perspective. Each team has 11 working days ending with the public presentation of their proposal. As part of this production phase, an open work session will be offered, titled “Conversations”, for all interested persons, the teams participating in the project and a guest thinker who will lead the event.
