OPEN PLAY CLUB: OPEN FORUM FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE VIDEO GAME ENTHUSIASTS
ArsGames
Friday 16 July, 5 p.m.

Open Play Club is an ArsGames group project offering playful-educational activities for children and teens (from age 8 on). The relationship with video games and the act of playing serve as a pretext for children to reflect on the situations they face in their everyday lives. The project aims to generate a community of users-players that share an interest in the world of video games. To make a place for this community at Intermediae, the ArsGames group has proposed a gradual transformation of the launching Space- where all the video games presented at Estación Futuro can currently be played- into a video game library. This proposal is the first of its kind in Spain, providing access to playing a varied collection of games classified by age groups, genres, play devices, etc. The video game library will also have an online website where members of the Play Club community will have critical articles, forums, game instructions, discussions, and other playful participatory activities related to video games.

As part of the process of building the video game library, the first action step proposes an assembly with a group of users-players for a discussion about their interests in this type of resource and way they imagine that the space might function. This assembly is proposed as the embryo of this future community and of the video game library as a place where experiences related to video games can be shared.

Vida Interior | Estación Futuro on Vimeo.

The third exhibit of independent videogames in Estación Futuro proves that videogames are not just about aliens and fairies, guns and neatly stacked blocks. They are also about the human condition, and about the feelings and emotions shared by creators and players. This new proposal curated by Javier Candeira, shows how independent videogame creators represent the inner states of the human mind through games as Korsakovia, Mirror Stage, Windosill¸ Osmos, Handle with care and Devil’s Tuning Fork.
