, Tamara Arroyo
Opening 23 July / 9 pm

Mundo Legazpi is a virtual space (www.mundolegazpi.intermediae.es) that takes a look at the context where Matadero-Madrid is located through the proposals of various artists invited to explore its streets. Their views will reveal other ways of mapping, narrating, understanding and inhabiting this part of the city.

Legázpolis, a proposal by Tamara Arroyo, will launch Mundo Legazpi on 23 July, 2009. In addition to the virtual route, the installation titled El Strip de Delicias (Delicias Strip) will be on exhibit through December at the Intermediæ building.

Documentary. Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujica. Running time 106’.
German with subtitles in Spanish.
With the collaboration of the Goethe Institut.

A reflection on the media and historical narratives based on images of the Revolution in Romania. In 1989, the people rose up and took over a studio at the public television company, from which the fall of Ceaucescu was broadcast live. Harun Farocki and Andrej Ujica gathered copies of amateur videos and programmes on Romanian public television after it was taken over by protesters in December 1989. These pictures and sounds portray the first time ever that television played a key role in a revolution. The protagonist is contemporary history.

A project by Jay Barros and Carlos García
2009 Creative Arts Grants Programme

Free(k) Culture aims to foster a concept of a scene or community of free users and creators (copyleft or creative commons licences) that use free tools, as well as to encourage the use and knowledge of these free tools and licences. To do so, they plan to create a space (both physical and virtual) for meetings and the presentation and dissemination of projects for that community, in which their visions and ways of working can be discussed and that will enable this social network to grow.

OPEN-ARSGAMES is an essential reference today in the field of academic studies, art and video games in Spain. In its subsequent sessions, it is shown to be a national event specialized in video games as an art form. A network of nodes for contact and knowledge related to art and video games.

The project will offer a series of presentations or conversations with guest experts that will be held the last Friday of each month. Various aspects of studies of video games will be covered in these meetings: narratology, cognitive studies, theories of representation, and video game theory.
